2022 VTAG AGM NOTICE

The Victoria Tenant Action Group (VTAG) would like to invite you to our fourth Annual General Meeting! Any current and prospective members are invited to attend.
​
The meeting will take place on:
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2022 at 6:30 PM PST
​
This will be a virtual AGM using the Zoom web-conference platform. The Zoom link will be provided to those who RSVP.
​

If your membership has expired you will be unable to vote at the AGM. Please e-mail us or go to this page to find a membership form, fill it out, and e-mail it back to us by Dec. 23, 2022.

Please note: non-members are welcome to join our virtual AGM but cannot have voting privileges. Please RSVP by e-mail and let us know you would like to attend as a non-member.

At the Annual General Meeting, we will:

Highlight VTAG’s activities since our last AGM

Vote in a new Board of Directors

Provide updates on plans for moving forward

Notice Of Special Resolution​
​
At our 2022 AGM, we will vote on a special resolution to change our Constitution & Bylaws to expand our geographic location and membership to include all of Vancouver Island. These proposed changes affect the preamble and Section 2.0.1. Below are listed the existing wording and proposed new wording for each section:

Existing wording for VTAG Constitution & Bylaws Preamble:
​
VTAG is a community action group that is led by and accountable to the people of Greater Victoria who do not own their own homes. In support of decent, affordable and accessible housing for people living in Greater Victoria who do not own their own homes, the purposes of VTAG are:
a) Foster political and social change to support and improve housing conditions
b) Share knowledge and understanding
c) Build community

Proposed new wording for VTAG Constitution & Bylaws Preamble:
VTAG is a community action group that is led by and accountable to the people of Vancouver Island who do not own their own homes. In support of decent, affordable and accessible housing for people living on Vancouver Island who do not own their own homes, the purposes of VTAG are:
a) Foster political and social change to support and improve housing conditions
b) Share knowledge and understanding
c) Build community

Existing wording for VTAG Constitution & Bylaws Section 2.0.1:

2.0.1 Voting members are individuals who:

Do not own their own home.

Reside within Greater Victoria, defined by the boundaries of the 13 municipalities, 3 Electoral Areas, and unincorporated areas that make up the Capital Regional District.

Municipalities: City of Victoria, District of Saanich, District of Oak Bay, Township of Esquimalt, City of Langford, City of Colwood, Town of View Royal, Town of Sidney, District of Central Saanich, District of North Saanich, District of Metchosin, District of Highlands, District of Sooke.

Electoral areas: Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, Southern Gulf Islands Electoral Area, and Saltspring Island Electoral Area

First Nations Reserve lands: Pacheedaht First Nation, Scia'new (Beecher Bay) First Nation, T'Sou-ke Nation, Esquimalt Nation, Songhees Nation, WÌ JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) First Nation, BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin) First Nation, SȾÁUTWÌ (Tsawout) First Nation, WÌ SÍḴEM (Tseycum) First Nation.

Victoria Tenant Action Group (VTAG) is a membership-based organization committed to transforming the housing system and ensuring access to housing for all. VTAG recognizes the relationship between displacement and colonialism and organizes within the unceded territories of the Lkwungen (Esquimalt and Songhees), Malahat, Pacheedaht, Scia’new, T’Sou-ke and W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples.
